What style of rock do you slam on? Is it classic, alternative, contemporary, heavy metal, indie, punk, progressive? Mastering the skill and expression of the rock bass is a heart-thumping experience. Instruction focuses on right and left hand technique, scale theory and technique, arpeggio studies, chord blocks and rock rhythms to get you rocking, thumping and filling in the bottom with those fat bass sounds.
Blues Bass Lessons
Mastering the skill and expression of blues bass is a slap-down, get-back and jump-up experience. Instruction focuses on right and left hand technique, scale theory and technique for modes and pentatonic scales, arpeggio studies, chord blocks, blues rhythms and the 8, 12, 16, and 24 bar blues (with and without bubbles).
Jazz Bass Lessons
Jazz bass requires all of the focus and commitment of the rock and blues bass, with the added demand of the cool/hot and skillful improvisation. Instruction focuses on left and right hand technique (for chord progressions and scales), jazz chord theory and substitution, chord melodies and pure improvisation.
Upright Bass Lessons
Mastering the skill and expression of the upright bass is a joyous, rip-roaring, and powerful experience. Instruction focuses on right and left hand technique, scale theory and technique, arpeggio studies, sight reading and performance for any style that you choose to play.

Michael teaches throughout the year, 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday. He is available days starting lessons as early as 7 AM for those who wish to attend before their workday begins. He teaches evenings as late as 10 PM. Please call 919.423.3754 for times and availability.
